Treasured Ocean Products is a family owned and operated
business bringing together our special talents working with nature in
a gentle and respectful harmony. We pride ourselves in
recycling and reusing natures gifts. Jay
Craddock is a commercial sockeye salmon fishermen.
He owns a 33ft
gill-netter and fishes area D in the Johnston Straights. He has his
fish processed by Saint Jeans Canary in Nanaimo British Columbia
bringing you the freshest wild BC canned salmon.
When he isn't fishing he is beachcombing. Touring the British Columbia
coast line from Desolation Sound thru the inlets to the tip of
Vancouver Island where he gathers logs that are either a navigational
hazard to boaters, help retrieve logs that have become separated from
tows, and gathering large trees with there roots attached that have
flushed out of the rivers due to natural disaster and flooding.
He
also works along with Gulf Log Salvage Co-operative Association and
B.C. Log Spill Recovery Co-op Association. The product that I will
focus on here is a very special item to be able to offer as it is a
rarity and recycled product offered by nature. These
trees can be a very old.
Offering you old growth lumber used
for flooring and boats, roots or products (tables, out door furniture,
slabs, roots). All of which could be cut to special orders,
so no waste is involved.
Sonia Craddock offers hand woven kelp baskets. She
gathers the kelp that has drifted onto the beaches that lay in the
sand to dry around Quadra Island . She hand picks the best quality
pieces to make these unique baskets. They are 100% kelp.
